“The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever” [al-Bukhari and Hossein Vahid Dastjerdi.]
WE ARE ALL HURTING- but most of all, our siblings in the Shia community are suffering. In light of the horrific sectarian violence that took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, MuslimARC would like to host a healing session for our community to honor the memories of Mohammad Ahmadi, Muhammed Afzaal Hussain, Aftab Hussein, and Naeem Hussain. We must do better for all of us, build bridges among the sects, and break down the systemic oppression of minority sects within the Ummah. Leading this healing session is a renowned Mental health educator and Mental Wellness coordinator at Shia Muslim Council, Sis. Layla Naji and Sis. Aneesah Al-Hasan, a community activist, healer, and educator from South LA and Councilor at Shia Muslim Council. Last but certainly not least is Hajj Reza Nekumanesh, the Executive Director of the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno and Vice President of Shia Muslim Council. You will not want to miss this virtual event of building solidarity, learning about one another, and healing together.
This space is open to all MuslimARC members and non-members from the Shi'a community. Sunni Muslim members are welcome to join this healing circle in order to listen, learn, and heal from Sunni dominance. All other sects are welcome to join the conversation as well.
